Most families come to us looking for overnight care to get a good night's rest. Babies require around the clock care and this can be quite the adjustment for parents. Let us feed, burp, change and soothe your newborn all night long. With proper rest, you can start your day refreshed and ready. We can even help with baby laundry, bottle washing and other tasks to help lighten your load.
Are you a new parent who feels overwhelmed by all these new baby things? Or do you have other kiddos already and know what life with a newborn looks like? We assist all families in adjusting to life with an infant. Sometimes that looks like coaching a new parent through every new step. Other times it's more helpful to focus on taking other lingering tasks off family plates.
A new baby in the home effects mom, dad, siblings, even the pets! Adjusting to life with a newborn takes time. We serve the entire family unit, newborn and all throughout Lake Country and Southeast Wisconsin. We work with each family to keep communication open, to ask good questions, and to make sure everyone is feeling supported, confident, and grateful for the help.
I have always been a “mom” to everyone - newborns, infants, children of all ages, and their families. This natural maternal sense led to earning a Masters in Social Work, where I learned as a child protective investigator, partnered with families in homeless situations, and monitored the safety of children in foster care throughout Milwaukee. Before starting my own family, I moved into management in Waukesha, running a group home for pregnant and parenting teens, teaching life skills and newborn care. Once I became an official mom, I left my social work career to open my own certified in-home daycare in Oconomowoc, part of Lake Country, Wisconsin. For nearly a decade, I provided care for babies and big kids, offering a playful and loving environment, always grateful that families trusted me with their little ones. As the kids grew, my passion for supporting families during that transitional and first year with a baby grew, leading me to pursue a professional career as a trained postpartum doula. While opening Lake Country Newborns, I've learned that most families are initially looking for night nannies to ensure they get a good night's rest to face the next day as their best and hands-on daytime help learning the ropes of parenthood. We provide that and so much more. We want to help all families adjust well to life with their newborn.
At Lake Country Newborns, we work with you in the home as added support as you adjust to life with your baby by contracting with those who nurture by nature. Our team is comprised of professionally trained newborn care specialists, postpartum doulas and registered nurses. By having a combination of providers available, we are able to work with each family to find the best fit for their family, with extra support available for families expecting multiples.
According to the Newborn Care Training Academy, the profession of a newborn care specialist covers basic newborn care practices, feeding, nutrition, breastfeeding, managing multiples, special considerations for premature infants, sleep and sleep conditioning, issues and ailments, and the care of the postpartum mother. Their niche knowledge is essential in making life with a newborn easier.
DONA International, the leader in evidence-based doula training, defines a doula as a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. Their holistic approach helps families feel supported in those first weeks and months with their infant.
Registered Nurses and Certified Nursing Assistants of varied applicable disciplines are drawn to the newborn care work we do at Lake Country Newborns. Some come from a neonatal background where they specialize in the care of newborn babies. Some come from a labor and delivery career where they support mom and baby through that exciting life experience. Their vast experience and training brings unparalleled expertise. It is important to note, these specialists come into your home as a postpartum professional, not as a nurse, leaving their nursing credentials at the door. They will help make medical referrals when needed, just like our newborn care specialists and postpartum doulas, however cannot and will not practice any medical care. But they will help make life with your newborn easier with their innate patience and compassion.
Whether you need a good night's rest,
an extra set of adult hands during the day,
or baby care coaching,
we are here and happy to help.
