Please reach us at lakecountrynewborns@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
Placement occurs within one week of reserving care, sometimes sooner if the stars align.
All placements include a complimentary 15-30 minute phone or video chat meet and greet prior to commencing care. If you prefer an in-person meet and greet, we are happy to arrange it for an added $50 cost.
When you reserve your placement, you’ll be placed with a continuous support team for the duration of your contract. Placements of 1-3 days/nights a week can usually be placed with one postpartum specialist. Placements of 4-5 days/nights a week work best with 2 specialists in the home, but can sometimes work with just 1. Placements of 5-7 days/ nights a week work best with 2 specialists. Occasionally, we’ll need to bring in a third postpartum specialist to fill in any gaps in a larger placement. If you choose to extend your care past your original placement, your current team may or may not be available.
We are here and happy to help. We want you happy with your care. If you find your postpartum specialist isn’t a fit, we can work to arrange an alternate. We do our best to make it work!
Please see the Our Specialists page for details.
Nope! For families that reserve under 12 shifts of postpartum care, the hourly rate is increased by $2/hour. For families that prefer to schedule week to week, hours are not guaranteed. We strive to be flexible for families and to keep communication open. Most families reserve a set amount of hours initially to secure the support they need and want.
Sure! We’ve worked with a few families that have had us come for a couple of shifts to see if it’s a good fit before committing to a placement with a bunch of hours.
Spoiler alert - all have ended up reserving placement. :)
We will make every effort to provide the scheduled care. Sometimes this is impossible (for example, there is a snowstorm or your specialist falls ill). If our failure to attend a shift is due to error, there will be no charge for the hours missed. If it is due to your last minute cancellation of services, you will be billed 50% of the scheduled hours for that shift. 24 hours notice is required for changes.
We accept electronic bank transfers as payment. We also accept checks with an agreed upon schedule of billing and payment. For families who prefer to pay by debit or credit card, a $1/ hour convenience fee is added to the hourly rate. If you prefer to pay in cold hard cash, it can be delivered in person to the home office during office hours as well.
Most postpartum specialists are flexible during the day. Daytime shifts are usually 4 hours long between 7 AM - 4 PM. We do have a few specialists on board available during the witching hour of 4 PM - PM as well.
Overnight shifts begin at 10 PM and end at 6 AM. Some families modify that a bit and have us come start and leave an hour earlier. We do our best to be flexible to support your family however they need it.
Nope. The fourth trimester is such a whirlwind and we can help families set up healthy sleep habits and offer some simple sleep shaping solutions. For nitty gritty sleep consultations, our friends over at Lake Country Sleep are the right ones to work with to set up a holistic sleep plan for your baby and family. Not specifically. Many of our postpartum specialists have personal experience with breastfeeding. Plus, both postpartum doula and newborn care specialist trainings cover breastfeeding. We bring that wisdom into your home and can often help with simple tips and tricks. For nitty gritty virtual lactation support, our friend Erin over at Lake Country Lactation is a great place to start.
Lake Country Newborns has been built from the ground up by a survivor of two pretty terrible postpartum recovery periods filled with sleepless nights, a constantly sore left nipple, and fumbling through the transition into motherhood. Ultimately, Maggie came out stronger and able to naturally help families with newborns and little kiddos. She owned and operated her very own certified in-home daycare after leaving her career as a masters level children and family social worker. With a background in compliance, Maggie developed a rigorous on boarding process for all postpartum specialists, ensuring our care is a cut above the rest. We are all parents here. We are all professionals. We are all here and happy to help. It is a honor to serve families as they adjust to life with their newborn.
Whether you need a good night's rest,
an extra set of adult hands during the day,
or baby care coaching,
we are here and happy to help.
