Lake Country Newborns on The Morning Blend
It's been exciting to spread the word about our newborn care and family support services throughout Lake Country, all of Waukesha County and its surrounding areas.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel featured us early on. Read the full article here!
“After my third was born including an unexpected health scare, I was beyond grateful for the support from a newborn care specialist at Lake Country Newborns. She intuitively knew what to offer me and my family to adjust at home, including helping with our infant, some household tasks and a few healthy meals and snacks to help my body rebound. The atmosphere immediately felt calmer! Thank you for mothering me and my family!”
“I wanted a postpartum doula because I knew it would be challenging having a newborn and two-year-old. My husband’s job has him on 24 hour shifts as well and I was worried I wouldn’t be able to do it all myself. That partnered with not knowing how I would feel emotionally drew me to postpartum doula work. It took the worry away. Our doula was amazingly helpful and her calm and caring disposition was so helpful, too. She helped with anything from cooking to cleaning to watching the kids so I could nap or just talking with me when I needed someone over the age of three to talk to. We came up with a plan for each visit and it really gave me so much calm and peace of mind having her around. I look forward to having her help again with the birth of our third child coming up.”
"We immediately felt supported. Having a little one who isn't sleeping can be sort of isolating. Everyone has an opinion on what to do or what we had done wrong. It was nice to discuss our issues with Baby A to people who were understanding and judgement free. Lake Country Newborns took some time to get to know Baby A's sleep (or lack thereof) and helped tailor a sleep plan that would suit the needs of our family instead of just coming in with a one size fits no one plan. For us, having those different approaches was good, we could take a bit from both specialists we worked with and find what we liked...I have nothing but good things to say. Maggie responded to promptly to my initial inquiry and I felt confident we could right this ship after that initial phone call. I liked being able to discuss the game plan each night when they arrived. Even thought I was sleeping while Baby A was being cared for, I felt very informed on what had occurred overnight."
"After losing my mom as a young teen, I was forced to grow up early and learned to depend on no one by myself. I became fiercely and stubbornly independent, sometimes to my own detriment.
I have been healing from the loss of my mother for most of my adult life, but the birth of my first child was a milestone that opened that wound more than I could have ever anticipated.
I was now a mom myself but felt like a scared child, alone and helpless and desperately craving the guidance and compassion that only mom could provide. I didn’t know who to turn to when things got rough. I’ve always been the person most people turn to when they needed help, and now that I was the one struggling, I didn’t know what to do.
I was afraid to be judged by other moms who had more experience and I didn’t want to burden my friends and extended family because I know they have problems of their own. I also felt guilt and shame that I was even having a hard time. I have always had incredibly high standards for myself and expect that I can do it all on my own.
After several sleepless nights I finally broke down and began searching the internet for ideas and I came across a post about Lake Country Newborns. I had no idea such a service existed but it seemed like the answer to my prayers. I felt more comfortable hiring professional help than asking for help from family and friends because I knew they were there solely to provide the support and guidance I needed as a new mom.
I’m so glad I was able to put my ego aside and seek additional help. The support from my care specialists at Lake Country Newborns helped me navigate the unique challenges of new parenthood, allowed me time for much needed self care, and helped me to realize that my mommy instincts were stronger than I originally gave myself credit for. They also helped me to feel less alone in my struggles and normalized the experiences I was having, wiping away that shame and doubt that crept in during those difficult first weeks with our newborn. I’m so very grateful to Lake Country Newborns for helping me during my transition into motherhood."
